America’s First Zoo! The Philadelphia Zoo’s 42-acre Victorian garden is home to more than 1,300 animals, many of them rare and endangered. By connecting people with wildlife, the Philadelphia Zoo creates joyful discovery and inspires action for animals and habitats.

Types of exhibits: Over 1,300 animals, Zoo360 Animal Exploration Trails, KidZooU (Children’s Zoo), and more. Extra fees required for ZooBalloon, Swan Boats, animal rides, carousel and train rides.

Length of visit: Expect to spend a half- to full-day to experience everything, especially if visiting with children.

Admission (as of May 2015):

  • Adults (age 12+): $20 (March-October); $16 (November-February)
  • Children (Ages 2–11): $18 (March-October); $16 (November-February)
  • Free for Children under 2
  • Rides and special exhibits may require an additional fee.

Hours:

  • March through October: 9:30am to 5:00pm
  • November through February: 9:30am to 4:00pm
  • Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.
